Toronto: The Savvy Guide to September

September 2007
Two beautiful apples hanging on a branch

Sorry babe, summer’s over. Sandy and Danny have to leave the beach and get back to reality and so do you.

Here is our Savvy Guide to September to help you with the transition:

DO
Go apple picking (we like Chudleigh’s Farm)
Why? You can create some more (end of summer) memories, and your kids will understand what all the fuss is about local produce.

PLAY
With all the toys that sat in the back of the garage or basement all summer.
Why? They don’t have to be brand-new-to-you to get the kids’ attention. Dig them out and switch them up and they’ll be as good as new when it comes to the fun factor.

GET
A new workout plan (and maybe an outfit if you can) now that running-around-outside season is about to end.
Why? ‘New’ will help motivate you (see above) and it’s important to stay healthy and look after yourself so you can look after everyone else too.

GO
To Evergreen Brickworks on September 16 from 12 - 5 pm
Why? Because a gastronomic festival celebrating the best of culinary Toronto in true green fashion makes for a great daytime date with your beloved. To order tickets, call 416-596-1495 x251

GREEN IT
Get an energy audit of your home done in time for Jack Frost’s arrival.
Why? You will learn new ways to save energy, money and you might even be eligible for a government rebate against the cost of any upgrades you need.

HELP
Enjoy a family morning out at A Morning with the Stars, a musical extravaganza for the entire family being held Saturday, September 15 at 11 am.
Why? Because it will be an amazing event your kids will never forget (we’re talking Max & Ruby, Daniel Cook. Loonette, Jack Grunsky and Jim & Kevin from the Barenaked Ladies) and funds raised go to support SickKids Foundation.
