You Are So Beautiful

When was the last time you felt beautiful? How about ever?

Well, maybe it’s about time you did—and we don’t mean LOOK beautiful, we mean feel beautiful, and show it.

So take a look at this little video.

It struck a chord with us because we know that kids don’t just form opinions from the media; they also learn from role models, like us and like you. Everywhere we go we are projecting a self-image of ourselves that is an example (and hopefully a positive one) to those around us.

We all have young women in our lives—our daughters, babysitters, nieces, music teachers, and neighbours. Believe it or not, a global study of women aged 15-64 reports that 92% of women would like to change something about themselves. Only two percent describe themselves as beautiful. 

There is something (actually a lot) we can do though. We can be healthy role models. We can let our children know that we love them regardless of their size or weight. We can help them build self-worth and confidence through a range of activities, physical and non-physical. And we can be proud of our children for who they are and what they do, not how they look.

You are beautiful. Every mom is. (We hope you already know that.) Now we just need to make sure all the children in our lives know they are too.
