Artful Celebrations

Unique Birthday Party Options
Looking for somewhere to party on with the kids? Try these places out!

Everyone has different strengths, even moms. Some are better at swaddling, some at cooking and some at planning parties.

But we don’t all have to be everything, all the time. That’s why other moms created places like Jellico Station and 4 Cats Arts Studio, so they can help out those other moms who might be lacking in a particular skill set. So in the spirit of sisterhood and helping moms everywhere to keep their house intact and keep that cake out of the rug, we’ve got the scoop on two very creative birthday party venues in town.

At Jellico Station, every little birthday girl’s or boy’s dreams come to life. In the business of providing ‘classic birthdays on steroids’, each birthday experience starts with a consultation with the kid in question. Think he’ll want pirates? He says he loves science… no problem. You can choose from royal balls and secret-agent sleepovers to Italian kitchen pizza parties. There’s a diverse selection of ready-made packages, or create your own à la carte party experience. We also like their focus on healthy food, so blood sugar levels don’t get too out of control. Jellico packages start at $250 (room rental and two dedicated, highly-trained instructors) depending on how much you choose to customize things.

And the fun’s not just for kids—parents (not to mention a plethora of aunts and uncles) can participate in the festivities, or relax downstairs in the (blessedly) kid-free cafe, leaving the details to Jellico professionals. Perfect.

If you have a budding artist in the family, you might already know about 4 Cats Art Studios but you might not know that they are now hosting birthday parties. That’s right, the place that styles itself as ‘the best, most fun art studio ever’ is now open for parties.

From Pop Art to Dragons, Van Gogh to Paint Splatter, 4 Cats has themed art parties for ages 3 to 16 that will please any palette. Each party starts with a one-hour art lesson, and each guest leaves with a genuine objet d’art. With 13 locations throughout the Lower Mainland, and new studios cropping up all the time, there’s sure to be a spot near you. Truly, ‘art is good’.

So party on!
