Arty Party

Craft Birthday Parties

“It’s my party, and I’ll dye if I want to….”

Dye, as in paint and colour and fabric and fun. Thanks to Jasmine Sasky of Angelina’s Dream, your little girl can have a homegrown party that’s as unique as she is.

Jasmine is an artist (and a savvy mom to three boys who moved to Vancouver from Israel in 2004) whose commissioned artworks have been brightening up a growing number of boys’ and girls’ rooms in Vancouver. At three feet by four feet and all colours of the rainbow, the canvases are guaranteed to bring smiles to the sleepiest of morning faces.

Now birthday party goers can create their own snippet of sunshine with one of Jasmine’s projects, all designed to keep a roomful of children busy. Birthday girls pick the project they’d like to work on at www.angelinasdream.com, choosing from dolls, jewellery and fabric projects such as mirror and photo frames. The ceramic dolls, which the kids paint and decorate to their hearts’ content, are originals that Jasmine has made from molds of her own design.

Jasmine will bring all the materials required, set up individual work stations, and lead the children through the activity, beginning with a warm-up game and ending with each child packing her artwork into a beautifully crafted box or bag—no loot bags from mom required! Cost ranges from $15–25 per person, depending on the project selected.

The proceeds from Jasmine’s commissioned artwork and birthday parties is used to help defray the medical expenses of her father and brother who are both living with cancer back in Israel. But her charity work doesn’t end at home—Jasmine volunteers her time leading art classes in community centres and planning parties for hospitalized kids who need a boost too.

We know that there are moms out there who absolutely love baking the cake, leading the games, giving out the prizes and overseeing the gift opening all by themselves, with no help at all. We just haven’t met one yet. So if your creative offspring is having a birthday soon, get crafty and call for aid from Angelina’s Dream.
