Baby’s Got a New Pair of Shoes

Moms and Babies Snowshoeing
Baby’s Got a New Pair of Shoes

Cue orchestra. 1, 2, 3….

The hills are alive, with the sound of…babies?!?

That’s right. If you’re a new mom, take heart: thanks to a new program on Mount Seymour, you’ll no longer be trapped at home while all the neighbourhood ski bunnies flock to the hills without you. (Don’t you hate that?)

Now you can bundle up Baby and bring him along on a series of snowshoeing adventures designed to get both of you out enjoying this winter wonderland.

Leader Janey Chang will guide snowshoers through a series of walks that will gradually build their skills. As long as you’ve got a comfortable baby carrier and can tote your offspring for up to 90 minutes, you’re welcome to join in—no experience necessary.

Each walk will be capped off with tea and snacks in the mountain’s heated yurt, and a short discussion on mom and baby wellness issues on topics such as nutrition or traditional Chinese Medicine.

Being a savvy mom herself, Janey knows the tricks that will make the outing work for everyone. Diaper changes will be scheduled into the agenda, and volunteers will be on hand to help moms get comfortably kitted out with their gear.

Her son, eight-month-old Quinn, loves his snowshoe outings and always sleeps much better—and longer—after them.

And what more could a mom ask?
