Tapping into our kids’ creative side is a top priority for us moms, but when was the last time we considered an art or dance class of our own?
With these two adult-size ideas we found, you’ll be out-performing your kids in no time.
If you want to flex your muscles more creatively, then we recommend a class at iDance where beginners are always welcome.
Studio owner Jane Scallon makes it easy (she’s a savvy mom of four) by offering a wide variety of drop-in classes. You’ll find class options ranging from Ballet to Bollywood to the signature Dancer’s Body Bootcamp. And Jane has just sweetened the deal at the Vancouver location by offering morning childcare ($5 for the hour), so you can work up a sweat in the low-key studio (mats are provided but you’ll need a water bottle) while your little one plays next door.
Looking for something a bit more personal? Get a group together and customize a class just for fun or to celebrate a special occasion.
Looking for some more down time? Gather up some girlfriends or your husband and head to Raw Canvas in Yaletown where you can nibble, sip and ‘make art’ in a relaxed atmosphere.
If you’re a little nervous about picking up the paintbrush (we know it’s been awhile), then start with some tapas and a glass of wine in Raw Canvas’ candle-lit dining area. If it’s all about the art, then don a smock and pick your palette in the adjoining studio. Canvas prices range from $45 to $105 with special pricing on date night Wednesdays (so you can really let those creative sparks fly). Good to Know: Seating is limited, so call well in advance if you are going with a group.
We love that this time it’s Mom coming home with a ‘masterpiece’ for everyone to ooh and aah over!
How creative…a couple of surefire ways to stimulate your right brain and maybe even get your body toned in time for summer.
