No Food Fights

Family Restaurants in Vancouver
Girl creates her own pizza at Rocky Mountain Flatbread

Sure you can cook, but sometimes a girl just needs to get out of the kitchen for a little break. Luckily you live in Vancouver, a town chock full of cool restaurant options for moms with busy kids. We searched high and low and tracked down our favourite family-friendly restos—some new, some old, but all of them offering good grub and most importantly, a play area for the kids.

Commercial Drive
In the heart of The Drive area is a little café we love called Little Nest. In true Commercial Drive fashion, the focus is on organic food and sustainable products. The interior is bright and very retro-feeling—a wonderful place for coffee, breakfast, brunch or lunch (the kitchen closes at 3 pm each day). And since the kids will be enjoying the play area, you might actually get to read the paper or catch up with an adult.

North Vancouver
Our old fave Babyeats at the Lynn Valley Town Centre is all grown up and calls itself Munch. It has all the great attributes of Babyeats, including the most fabulous children’s play area, with wooden ride-on toys, trucks, play kitchen and castle. What’s new is the full restaurant menu and a great patio-area…and sources tell us that a liquor license is very soon to come. To top this off, on Friday and Saturday nights, Munch has teamed up with Nannies on Call to provide nanny services for a small fee so that you can truly enjoy that glass of wine and a meal on the patio without wondering what chaos your kids are causing in the play area.

Kitsilano
We’ve told you before about the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company, in the heart of Kitsilano, with its wonderful organic pizzas and a small kitchen play area in the back of the restaurant. The news you can use here is that they just opened another location in the Lynn Valley Town Centre and the play area in their second location is slightly larger than their first.

Perhaps one of these great local haunts is just the place to celebrate together.
