Delicious Dining for Everyone

Pizzeria Prima Strada and Lady Marmalade
Kid-friendly has never been so tasty at these Victoria restaurants. Click here to find out more.

There are times when you just don’t feel like sharing a Pirate Pak at White Spot or a dip cone at the Q. Luckily, we have two wonderful local options sure to satisfy the ultra-foodie parent and the picky child alike.

Pizzeria Prima Strada has created two restaurants in Victoria, born from the idea that there should be more neighbourhood, family-friendly places offering exceptional food. Modelled after the traditional pizzerias of Italy, owners Cristen and Geoffrey Dallas, savvy parents of two, have created two restaurants in this city unlike any other. The beauty is not just that the food tastes delish (of course it does), but that they make it seem so simple.

The menu is small, and consists of fresh, local, and simple ingredients on traditional wood-fired thin crust pizzas. They offer seasonal salads, antipasto, and fresh gelato for dessert. Local ingredients like Cowichan Valley buffalo milk mozzarella and freshly made fennel sausage from a local butcher are what make this pizza stand apart from the others. They’re open for lunch and dinner and do take-out as well—the perfect menu item for an afternoon lunch in the park of your choice. Mother’s Day picnic, perhaps?

Lady Marmalade prides itself on serving up a beautiful breakfast and lovely lunch, seven days a week. Originally from Toronto, Carla Cherry (mom of one) and her brother, David Cherry, opened up this little brunch joint and worked hard to make it a Victoria staple. Lady Marmalade has become famous for their seven varieties of delicious Eggs Benny (the best in the city), tasty salads, Mexican fusion dishes and poutine. Kids are welcome in every way—smaller servings, comfortable décor and no dirty looks from the wait staff.

Still worried about how the kids will behave if you go out for a meal? We have a way to keep them busy. It’s the latest in portable distractions for mini-diners, Kids’ Night Out Bingo. It features items found in restaurants like placemats, salt and pepper, order pads, menus, and easy-to-use punch-through, fold-back flaps that take the place of traditional chips. The first one to get five across, down, or diagonally, wins.

Bon appétit!
