It’s Party Time

How can you possibly make spring any better? With a birthday party of course! So to super–size the excitement, we’ve tracked down a few local resources that promise to make your next birthday bash the bomb.

If you have a girl between the ages of 4 to 12, she’ll love hanging with all her BFF’s at Lizzie Lee and Me, the one-stop shop for girlie girls. Lizzie Lee and Me is a spa/salon that offers haircuts, styles, nail services, and spa packages for individuals, as well as group parties. There are seven themes to choose from, including the Enchanted Fairies for younger girls (complete with fairy dust and wings), and the Rockin’ Popstar (Hannah Montana inspired) with take home hair extensions and microphones. All parties come with goodie bags.

Who wouldn’t love to hang off the walls on their birthdays? For kids aged six and up, The Boulders Climbing Gym provides the staff, gear and a party place to celebrate. The first hour and a half is for climbing, which is enough time to tire out even the most energetic birthday star. For the last hour, you can use a private area to open presents and have snacks. They even clean up afterwards!

Another option for the outdoor adventurous type would be to have the cake and presents outdoors and then head to WildPlay Element Park. Located in Colwood behind the Juan de Fuca Rec Centre, this newly opened outdoor adventure park boasts “the lost art of monkeying around” for kids. There is a big kids’ course and a little kids’ course and it is an exciting place to take some friends. The park is open Friday through Monday and they offer 10% off for birthday parties. Kids must be 7 or older to participate. 

Need an original and outrageous birthday cake for the occasion but don’t have time to make one? Look no further than Cake My Day, by Meaghan O’Brien. Meaghan can create a delicious cake to look like anything: trucks, flowers, hamburgers, wild animals, popular super heroes or princesses. There is no limit, just delicious tasting, unique looking birthday cakes!
