Even when your kids get big, you can still bask in the pleasure of buying baby gifts for the next baby shower you attend.
And look no further than your own hometown for that perfect gift. Victoria has become a mecca for natural, organic baby stuff—from linens and bon bons to rattles, sweatshirts and onesies. Inspired by the west coast we live on, and made by local moms with love (with the environment in mind), we present to you three of our favourites sites. They ship to people all over the world, and make their creations right here in Victoria.
Grasshopper Kidz Bamboo Childrens Clothing (newborn and up) features original handmade prints and designs on bamboo clothing. We like the frogs, monkeys, and li’l bro and li’l sis shirts. In the summer months, you can find Grasshopper Kidz at the Public Market in Bastion Square or purchase their bamboo hats and onesies online anytime to have them delivered.
Banbutsu was started by two childhood friends and savvy moms from Fernwood who love to create upcycled and recycled clothing. Banbutsu, which means ‘everything under the sun,’ combines whimsical inspiration with a love of textures and colours to create sweet things for toddlers and children. These gorgeously unique items are made from used cable-knit sweaters, felted wool, and sewn-on appliqués. Each piece is different and creatively put together. Pants made from the arms of sweaters are a cozy choice for any toddler.
