Winter Warm Up

Warm Winter Gear for Kids
BOGS boots

It’s the harshest reality of being a Canadian mom…winter. Not the elements, the shoveling of the snow or the low temps, it’s the 20 minute wrestle that must take place to prepare your sweet bundles for the outdoors. We call it the ‘harried hustle’ (because you are inevitably late for some terribly important pre-school date).

To add some spice and good taste to your harried hustle this winter, check out some of these savvy new products for Jack and Jill that will keep them warm and happy.

Don’t Get Bogged Down
Boots are an essential item for outdoor fun and we love the functionality, practicality and fun designs of the BOGS boots for kids (and moms, for that matter). These boots originated in Oregon where the weather can be more severe than even that of our own beloved terrain. Totally waterproof, BOGS are good for mud, sludge, rain and snow (some of the models are comfort-rated for up to -30 degrees). They also have a non-slip outsole and anti-microbial odor protection. Neoprene is the secret—they’re made of it. And it works.

mimiTENSGive Us Ten
For the little ones who can’t keep mitts on, mimiTENS are the latest and greatest for moms with kids who like to throw things around (because they won’t be able to get these ones off). mimiTENS are mittens with long and stretchy cuffs that really do stay on little hands, and are comfy and cozy too. They’re made with eco-friendly fabrics and are designed and made in Canada.

Stonz HatStone Cold Cool
Speaking of being Canadian, our old friends Stonz Wear have launched some new gear for kids and we think the all-Canadian Pointed Hatz (their spelling, not ours) are the bomb this year. If you’re not feeling terribly patriotic (or in the Olympic spirit) there are lots of other cozy options for hats (the reversible ones are also great) and mitts (or is it Mittz?) as well as their classic booties that don’t come off.

We think you’ll agree—there’s nothing cooler than being ready for winter.
