Homemade Ice Cream in A Bag

You’ll Need
Makes one serving

  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup Half-n-Half cream
  • ¼ tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup rock salt*
  • Ice
  • 1 pint-size Ziploc bag
  • 1 gallon size Ziploc bag

*Rock salt is available at most hardware stores and supermarkets. The salt you buy for a water softener (called Solar Salt) also works

Prep and Cook

  • Combine the sugar, Half-n-Half, and vanilla in the pint size Ziploc bag and seal tightly.
  • Combine the ice and rock salt in the large Ziploc bag. Place the small bag inside of the larger bag and seal.
  • Shake the bag for about five minutes continuously until the mixture turns into ice cream. (It’s recommended that an adult assists with this part so bags don’t rip or burst open.)
  • Add sprinkles, chocolate chips or fruit (optional) and enjoy.
