Red wine fends off fruit flies

Fending Off Fruit Flies

Submitted by: SavvyMom Editors

Keep nasty fruit flies away from fresh produce by setting a trap for them. Place a small amount of red wine in a shallow dish covered with plastic wrap stretched tight across the top. Pierce holes on the cover. The flies will be attracted to the wine (not your food), fly in and won’t be able to escape. You can also use banana or apple cider vinegar as a substitute for the wine.
