Father’s Day activities in Ottawa 2018
Give dad the night off from cooking and treat him to a delicious Prime Rib dinner at OCCO Kitchen in Orleans. If you’ve been to OCCO you already know they excel at deliciousness, but for Father’s Day they have a dinner just for dad that will have everyone drooling. Prime Rib, potatoes, vegetables and more await! Not really interested in Prime Rib? OCCO also has a Father’s Day breakfast happening that morning. You’ll be well fed.
Lansdowne is already a fantastic destination for families thanks to the sporting events, Farmers’ Markets and playground, but Father’s Day weekend it’s also home to the Ottawa Beer Fest on June 15th and 16th (giving dad Father’s Day to sleep in). This event is for those 19 and older, which means you need to either leave the kiddos at home, or just send dad on his own.
Treat dad to a special brunch at the Canadian Museum of Nature, then tour around the museum to take in all of the exhibits. The brunch is offered at two different times (10:30 and 12:30) and museum admission is separate, however, members get into the museum for free. The tasty meal is a great way to start off the day together before exploring the exhibits at the museum like Brain: The Inside Story.
Drive back in time together on Father’s Day weekend at the Billings Estate National Historic Site Vintage Car Show special event. On Father’s Day (June 17) from 10 am until 4 pm, bring dad to admire the antique cars on display while the kids participate in a scavenger hunt. Activities for the whole family are planned and there will be a cash BBQ as well.
The Incredibles 2
You already know that dad is a super hero, so why not encourage him to spend his day with another dad hero – Mr. Incredible. The Incredibles 2 releases on Father’s Day weekend and is the anticipated follow up to the original Disney’s The Incredibles movie. Your local cinema is likely playing it at various times over the weekend.
Get your game on with dad on Father’s Day at the House of Targ Father’s Day brunch and game play. Admission to the brunch ($20 for adults, $15 for kids under 12) includes a full breakfast buffet plus many of their arcade games will be set to free play. Your kids will love challenging dad with The Family vs Dad Wizard Challenge as you try to take on dad who probably knows a thing or two about Space Invaders and Frogger.
Enjoy being at the beach together at Petrie Island as Carivibe plans to Reach the Beach from 2 pm until 10 pm on Saturday, June 16. There is free entry and your entire family will love the music, dancing and inflatable castles for the kids. Dad can enjoy a beverage in the rum shack!
On Sunday, dad or mom play Laser Quest for free! Challenge each other to a fun game of Laser Quest on St. Laurent Boulevard and mom or dad will enjoy free admission from 10 am until 8 pm. Who will be the family champion?
