7 Indoor Playgrounds in Vancouver
The kids are bouncing off the walls, but what do you do when Mother Nature seems determined to keep you cooped up indoors? Let your little Tigger get some quality playtime in with our 7 indoor playgrounds.
-
6Pack Indoor Beach
Opened in 2011, this is Western Canada's only indoor beach volleyball facility. Bring the seven and under crowd to Kidz Beach for Lil' Diggers on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 am to 3 pm, where they can play in the largest indoor sandbox in the city (and you don't have to remember sunscreen). They also host beachy birthday parties.
-
Bearfoot Playground
Bearfoot Playground is the brainchild of two mums who were looking for a fun place to entertain their toddlers while catching up over coffee. Children can play, imagine, and move in a clean, safe and stimulating environment. The Toddler Ground is designed for the younger set while the Playground is an exclusive design that lets your preschooler climb, slide, and play. A café with locally roasted coffees, organic treats and snacks means moms are happy, too.
-
Whistler Bounce Acrobatic Academy
This indoor trampoline park boasts three in-floor trampolines and three trampoline half-pipes with a foam pit and padded walls for soft landings (guaranteed to even exhaust Tigger). While you're there, say hello to Rango, the resident Panther Chameleon, and don't forget to bring your own water bottle.
-
Laserdome Plus
Older kids are sure to love this amusement facility. In addition to Glow-in-the-Dark Laser Tag (recommended for ages six and up), they also have rock climbing, a pressure-sensitive Light Space (like tag, only the moving light on the floor is ‘It'), a 24-foot tall Space Jungle complete with a slide, rope walkways and a clubhouse for kids 10 and under (make sure to wear socks). Finally, there's three party rooms with party leaders to keep everything flowing smoothly.
-
West Side Family Place
This not-for-profit family resource and play centre has a toy lending library, a play and learn drop-in program with singing and stories, and playtimes geared specially for infants and preschoolers. While you're there, take advantage of some of their great services, like the weekly nutritionist visits and their clothing exchange.
-
Edge Climbing Centre
Located on the North Shore, the Edge Climbing Centre has over 15,000 square feet of vertical climbing surface. Families are welcome here with no minimum age requirement (although we think it's best for the older set). Birthday parties offer a 3:1 ratio of climbers to staff, which is the highest of any facility in the Lower Mainland. We like that they have a party room where you can serve cake and refreshments so there's no mess to bring home.

I hope family centre
The I hope family centre's Learning Together Through Play program includes child-led play, songs, stories and a healthy snack. The family centre—which is run by Family Services of the North Shore—provides parents with a great opportunity to meet other local moms and discuss parenting questions with the trained staff while your babe or tot explores a new play area. Good to know: the centre has two North Vancouver locations.
