8 Halloween Treats That Aren't Candy
Every year we say we want to do something different and shell out unique goodies at Halloween. And every year we find ourselves buying the same treats we've given out for years. Well, this year is different. From small toys to other food items and offerings for the parents, too, shelling out just got real. These tips are especially good if you only have a handful of kids come to your door or you're skipping the door-to-door scene in favour of a Halloween party. We'll just call it trick or try something different.
-
Rolling in Doh
Everybody loves Play Doh, and this is one treat that is safe for all. And even if you think you have enough at home, trust us—you can never have enough. New and fresh Play Doh will be most welcome by the littles.
-
Tea for Two
We personally believe that it's a nice touch to provide a wee treat for the hard-working parents as well. This pumpkin chai tea is very in keeping with the season, and what caregiver couldn't use a tea break during this busy time?
-
Poppity Pop Pop
Pop chips are a great crunchy and savoury addition to the Halloween line-up, and a bit better on the nutrition profile than chips and other greasy snacks. This variety pack includes salt and vinegar, BBQ, sour cream and onion, and sea salt, so eating the leftovers will be a flavourful experience.
-
Chew on This
They adore the chewy chocolate chip granola bars, and, truth be told, we kinda like them too (they go so well with a cup of tea). Suitably ‘scary' with a Halloween-inspired wrapper, they will add a spooky touch to snacks and school lunches while still being peanut- and tree nut-free.
-
Organic Juice Boxes
It's hard work, trick or treating. Lots of running, lots of stairs, and carrying that bag that gets heavier after every house. That's why we like the idea of giving out drinking boxes—kiddos can have a drink to rehydrate and stay happy until the last treat stop.
-
Mmm, Marshmallow
With the cold(er) weather coming, hot chocolate and marshmallows is the ultimate treat. We know the littles adore the Starbucks' offering, so when we give out these pouches (complete with handcrafted mini marshmallows), they are all smiles.
-
P is for Pokemon
At a certain age pretty much every kid gets introduced to Pokemon and the card game plays out at recess time in schools across the country. So why not give out a card or two at shell out time and watch the kiddos get even more excited, if that's possible.
-
C is for Cookie
Available in chocolate chip cookie and mini oreos, these individual servings of mini cookies will be a nice complement to all the chocolate. They're nut-free, too, so any extras can go in school lunches.
