Playsilks
Appropriate for: girls age 3–5
Smooth. Give the gift of a hundred creative uses with a package of Playsilks. Made of 100% natural silk and dyed with non-toxic dyes, these brightly coloured, flowing free-form scarves can be costumes, backdrops, tents, magic carpets, room décor, parachutes…the list goes on and on. We think the imaginative uses by the girl who receives them will too.
-
Balance Board Labyrinth
Appropriate for: boys and girls aged 5–45
It's rare and exciting to find a toy that spans from kids to adults. That's why we love Challenge and Fun's Balance Board Labyrinth, great for kids and adults up to 275 pounds. A balance board and game in one, the goal is to move balls around the maze while keeping the board, and themselves, steady. Made of birch plywood gathered from reclaimed forests, the non-slip surface ensures kids will stay safe as they rock hard from side to side. If only reclaiming rock-hard abs was as easy and fun.
-
Eco Saucer Flying Disc
Appropriate for: boys and girls aged 6–7
The alien invasion may be imminent according to some, but for the rest of us, the only green saucers we'll see flying around this spring are compliments of the Eco Saucer Flying Disc. BPA and Phthalate-free, and made from recycled milk jugs, these life force-generated throwing objects will be at home at any park, backyard, or schoolyard (if permitted). Note: strictly prohibited anywhere near Area 51.
-
Green Start Mighty Mixer Wooden Puzzle
Appropriate for: boys aged 2–3
The appeal of puzzles (especially to active boys) is obvious: you put it together, and then you are actually encouraged to tear it all apart. Green Start goes one step further with a reclaimed-wood manufactured puzzle that incorporates an object of desire for boys of any age—the cement mixer. A great activity to do together with younger puzzlers, or a challenge for older ones, the base of the puzzle only shows black outlines where the pieces go, not the images. This puzzle really mixes it up.

Green Science Enviro Battery Kit
Appropriate for: boys aged 6–7
Practically speaking the potato as a battery source isn't ideal. But we're positive they'll love a chance to make a ticking tater, which is one of several earthy experiments in the Green Science Enviro Battery Kit. From a potato powered clock and lemon powered light bulb to a sonic chip powered by soil, all the experiments in this kit come with full instructions (and recommended parental supervision). Unlike other science kits intended for kids, this one has real meat to it.

Prince Lionheart Balance Bike
Appropriate for: boys and girls learning to ride, aged 3–5
Know someone spinning their wheels trying to get a toddler to ride on two? A gift of the Prince Lionheart's Balance Bike may cycle you up to the top of their BFF list. This bike helps them learn (at their own pace) and the 100% birch frame weighs less than 10 pounds with a height-adjustable seat, rubber tires and comfortable hand grips. It's just like a real bike but without the pedals, gears, or tears of frustration (we meant the kids tears).
-
Camelot Jr.
Appropriate for: boys and girls aged 6–7
The stairways don't go to Heaven, but they need to connect properly to save the Prince, or Princess, in the Camelot Jr. brilliant strategy game. Using the wooden tower pieces, kids will need to strategize to properly build an escape route to rescue the damsel, or dude, in distress from the tower. With an accompanying booklet outlining the challenges and (if needed) the solutions, the scenarios range from easy to very difficult. This game can be hard, but it rocks.

Personalized Kids’ Keepsake Rocker
Appropriate for: boys and girls 2 and up
Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, even if you're only 3 years old. Raise the bar and present a gift they can really call their own for as long as they own it. L.L. Bean's Personalized Kids Keepsake Rockers are made in North America out of hardwood and non-toxic paint, and come in a variety of colours. For home, the cottage, the grandparents' house…a custom seat with their name on it will be a cherished gift for years. Cheers to that.
