Spring Break: Activities in Calgary
Spring Break is all about breaking out of routine. So if you're staying in town with the family, you need to start making stay-cation plans now. Here's our lineup of stuff to do with the kids.
-
Go Tubing
A great activity for everyone from small to big, sliding down a hill on an inflatable piece of plastic will appeal to the whole family. Great tubing parks are located at both Banff and Lake Louise ski areas.
-
Go Skiing
Skiing is a fantastic family activity (think bright shiny faces and warm mugs of hot chocolate) but keep in mind that skiing with kids adds an extra layer of complexity. Here is a comprehensive guide to ski lessons and on-hill daycare at ski resorts within a three hour drive from Calgary.
-
Spring Rally in the Alley
Visit Heritage Park and learn about all the ways cars impact our lives. Much less involved than going on a road trip, but equally educational.
-
Go Tobogganing
Rip down one of Calgary's great hills and experience the rush of cold air and snow before the thaw hits. Fun for all ages and a great way to spend a sunny afternoon.
-
Go to an Indoor Playground
If the great outdoors doesn't appeal, spend time in the warmth of one of these indoor playgrounds. Hours of fun for the kids means hours of peace for you.
-
Go on an Egg Hunt
One of the most anticipated events of the season is the Easter egg hunt. Experience the holiday traditions at Butterfield Acres. Listen to a story in the barn, visit the farmyard and plant some seeds at the Prairie Palace. Children will find the items the Easter Bunny needs and be sent off with a special gift as a thank you for helping him out.
-
Go to Spring Break at Indigo
Every day of the week at 11 am, go to one of the participating stores for a special Spring Break event. Celebrate favourite authors, toys, stories and more.
