Here's a little poem loaded with treats to inspire you on this Valentine's Day, with love from all of us at SavvyMom HQ.
15 Ways to Show the Love
It's Valentine's Day, and while we all love the idea of champagne and chocolates, the true gift is in sharing the love. Here are 15 ways to get your heart inspired for the big day.
Leave Special Kisses
Slap on the red lipstick (the redder the better) and leave ‘hot lips' marks on the bathroom mirror. Draw a heart around them (with the same lipstick, don't use your best) and write ‘I Love You.'
Dress It Up
If you don't want your kids to think you're lame—wear red or pink. Might not be your fave but give into this wardrobe challenge one day out of the year. Kids love this stuff!
Sweet Shapes
Invest in a large heart-shaped cookie cutter and make heart-shaped toast or pancakes for breakfast, heart-shaped sandwiches for lunch and heart-shaped cookies, well, for just about anytime.
Send Love Notes
Write a little love note for all members of your family and slip it in a pocket or lunch box. Heart stickers and drawings work well for the ‘can't read yet' set.
Make a Colourful Meal
If the kids are old enough, have a fancy family ‘red and white' dinner complete with candles. Serve heart-shaped pasta (available at specialty stores) or red pasta with red tomato sauce and sliced strawberries (they look a little like hearts this way) and whipped cream for dessert.
Enjoy Dinner for Two
If the kids are not old enough, get them to bed early and enjoy a romantic dinner with your beloved.
Whomever you choose to dine with, for dessert we recommend the perfect easy-to-make-you-look-like-a-superstar Lava Cake baking mix from Dr. Oetker. It's the perfect dose of chocolate to end the day.
They say that the way to someone's heart is through their stomach—so why not show your love with some culinary creativity? The I Love You Egg Shaper is a sweet and easy way to turn breakfast into a healthy, sugar-free treat (before the kids are loaded up with chocolate). We also like that the Teflon-coated egg shaper has a wooden handle for easy use and also works for pancakes, toast, or even cookies. We ‘heart' it lots.
Since all kids love JELL-O, it's the perfect thing to serve for a Valentine's Day treat this year. It's red, it's yummy and it can be made into the shape of a heart.

‘Of course if you like your kids, if you love them from the moment they begin, you yourself begin all over again, in them, with them, and so there is something more to the world again.'
