6 Kid-Friendly Tea Houses in Vancouver
Tea time is the perfect excuse to dress them up and teach proper manners in a fun way. Kids love the crust-free sandwiches and treats-on-a-tray, while you can sit back and enjoy watching someone else host toddler tea time. Plan a trip to one of our two favourite establishments in town, but call ahead to nab one of their coveted tables, dress to impress and most importantly...‘pinkies up'!
Xi Shi Lounge at the Shangri-La Hotel
Hip lounge by night, tea house by day, the Asian inspired Xi Shi has pushed the bar a little higher with their children's 'hot' afternoon tea. Little ones can dine on favourites such as grilled cheese sandwiches, mini burgers and even a Belgian waffle drizzled in chocolate sauce.
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Often referred to as 'Tea at the Castle' due to its regal setting within the iconic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, this is one of the longest running children's tea services in the city. It's so popular with the kids that they even developed a special kid-friendly blend of tea: 'Bubblegum Tea'.
Neverland Tea Salon
Children can make believe to their heart's content at this Peter Pan themed tea house. Neverland will also bring their tea and goodies to you with a hosted children's tea party in your home or garden (complete with Queen).
Butter Tea Room
When this West Side bakery needed to move to larger space, they had the wonderful idea of converting their original location into a tea house. Children will be delighted by a menu that includes a delicious 'sprinkle' finger sandwich and a homemade Oreo, and parents will be hard pressed to leave without picking up some of their gorgeous take home baked goods.
The Urban Tea Merchant
Not only does this tea room offer a children's menu including yummy Nutella and jelly sandwiches, petit fours and strawberry sorbet, they also have no less than four different afternoon tea menus for adults. We love the West Coast-themed Afternoon Tea, with miso-maple glazed sable fish in butter lettuce and tea-infused tuna tataki.
Adorabelle Tea Room
Nestled inside of an old courthouse, this very popular tea room gives you yet another reason to visit the historical village and popular day tripper destination of Steveston (just 25 minutes outside of downtown Vancouver). Don't forget to check out their cute little gift shop while you are there.
