We could all learn a thing or two from the Cookie Monster. Keep it simple and indulge your inner child's craving. Here are nine of our favourite places for a sweet treat in Calgary.
-
Fraîche
They are the perfect dinner party companions guaranteed to never overstay their welcome. Fraîche is a twist on traditional catering, supplying the final touches to your meal, rotating their offerings by season. Order by phone on weekdays, or mosey down to Bistro 2210 in Mission to taste a sampling of Fraîche's sweet goodness.
-
Cruffs
The latest craze for treats on-the-go in Calgary are cream puffs from Cruffs. First, you choose from a selection of coatings, including chocolate, Skor, toasted coconut and more. Next step is the ‘cream' bar. Choose from delicious fillings like chantilly cream, hazelnut chocolate, strawberry, green tea and many more and have your Cruffs' puffs instantly stuffed.

Yann Haute Patisserie
We recommend taking a tasty trip to one of Calgary's macaron vendors. Yann Haute Patisserie is a beautiful little bake shop tucked in a petite old house around the corner from busy 4th Street SW. They make croissants and baguettes as well (both delish) and we love their gift-boxed macarons (four, six or eight in a cylindrical package)—perfect hostess gifts.
-
deVille Luxury Coffee and Pastries
With shops in both Art and Fashion Central, deVille is a chi-chi joint with high-end coffee, produced from Intelligentsia beans (direct trade with farmers), and served in a designer space with fancy treats from local restaurants. Visit the Art Central location the first Thursday of every month and take in displays from local artists.
-
Epiphanie
Artisan chocolate shop Epiphanie makes chocolates primarily from European Valhrona and Felchlin chocolate. Located just off 17th Avenue SW, this tiny, beautifully decorated shop sells gorgeous, ganache-filled chocolates (try the double-smoked bacon with milk chocolate). Made off-site by owner, mom and chocolatier Debra Fleck, chocolates are often adorned with edible ink images. (They will do custom orders.)
-
Choklat
Choklat smells divine. This simple factory, bakery and shop all-in-one has a tasty menu with nine different chocolate bars (the best we have ever tasted), made-to-order truffles in several combinations (try the peanut butter cream dipped in dark chocolate then rolled in crushed brownies) and a few baked goods.
-
Crave Cookies and Cupcakes
We crave Crave Cookies and Cupcakes. Their cupcakes are absolutely addictive and their minis with butter cream icing are perfect for little hands. Pick up a cupcake tier while you're there for an extra sweet display. Order at least a week in advance to ensure timely arrival.
-
The Glamorgan Bakery
The Glamorgan Bakery is a taste-treasure. For over 30 years, The Glamorgan Bakery has concocted traditional cakes that are baked and decorated on site. And don't even think about leaving without a bag of their delicious cheese buns in hand.

Playful, pretty and completely personalized, Panache Cakes are custom designed by mom Charnika Samuel with a little help from your imagination. The homemade cakes come in all kinds of flavours as well as some gluten-free and vegan options.
