The Best Events on in Ottawa This March Break
If you are staying in Ottawa for March Break this year there is no way you’ll hear the kids declare ‘I’m bored’ thanks to all of the special events, activities and camps that are happening across the city. Now is the time to look at the calendar and make some plans that will keep everyone busy. You may even be able to sneak some learning into their activities, but we won’t tell them.

Dance with Princesses and Superheroes (for a Good Cause)
Get your groove on during the March Break and support a great cause at the Princess Dance Party for Children’s Wish Foundation. On Thursday, March 16 from 5 to 8 pm, families can hang out with princesses and superheroes, savour cupcakes, have their faces painted, make crafts, and of course, show off their dance moves! We love the spirit of the event and how it will help other children in the city.

Get in touch with nature at Parc Omega
Parc Omega is open year round, including March Break, and offers families the opportunity to explore nature up close and personal. Maple syrup season just happens to be an added bonus! Eat taffy on the snow, feed the animals carrots, and warm up in the lumberjack lodge. Parc Omega is only about an hour from Ottawa and will introduce your children to a variety of Canadian wildlife. It’s the perfect way to spend March Break outside. Find more info at facebook.com/parcomegamontebello.

Tinker away during the March Break at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum’s Tinker Workshop. Registration is per day, per child, and the workshop is designed to let imaginations and creativity sore. The bilingual program for ages 6-12 also offers extended day care at no additional cost.
Even if you don’t want to register for camp, you can still make your way to the Museum. The week is filled with programming and daily activities like space experiments and airmail delivery that will keep everyone wanting more. Find more info at casmuseum.technoscience.ca.

Become a Spy at The Diefenbunker
Choose your child for a top secret mission and encourage them to become a spy at The Diefenbunker’s spy camp. We love that families can choose to register their child for the entire week, or for one day only. Each day of the week is a different spy lesson or task with plenty of hands on intrigue. Kids will learn to go undercover through the art of disguise or go on a hunt for a missing spy, just to name a few activities. Find more info at diefenbunker.ca.

Take Ski Lessons at Camp Fortune
March Break might be the perfect time to try something new. How about ski lessons at Camp Fortune? Sign the kids up for lessons so you can hit the slopes as a family, then, enjoy a family version of après ski together! Lessons are for two hours but the lift ticket is good for the day meaning everyone can practice over and over again. Camp Fortune has two ski lodges to warm up and grab a bite. Fingers (and skis) crossed for good weather. Find more info at campfortune.com.

Lace up Your Skates
With its huge rink, it’s no wonder the Lansdowne Park skating court is a popular destination for families wanting to skate. The rink is open dependant on the weather, but with the Rideau Canal having such a short skating season, we are happy to have it available. There is a heated facility to change into your skates, but you do need to bring your own; there aren’t any available for rent. Find more info at ottawa.ca.

Cheer for the Home Team at the Ottawa 67s Fan Appreciation Game
Cheer on the home team at the Ottawa 67s Fan appreciation game and end March Break with some local hockey. Win or lose, the Ottawa 67s always have families in mind. At 2 pm, they’ll take on the Hamilton Bulldogs and as a thank you to their fans, the first 2,500 people through the gate will receive a free pair of sunglasses. They will also be celebrating with giveaways and prizes and the usual exciting entertainment that the 67s are known for. Can your kids find their mascot Riley Raccoon? Find more info at ottawa67s.com.
