9 Spots for Treats in Vancouver
Wondering where to get your next sugar fix? Look no further than this list of our nine favourite Vancouver treat stops.
North Vancouver mom entrepreneur Tammy Morrey's company, Kake, specializes in delicious home-baked cakes, cupcakes and cookies. Tammy uses all-natural ingredients (no additives or preservatives) and her recipes are all nut free. She also makes delicious gluten-free items and smaller cakes upon request.
Visit the Cupcakes location nearest you and pick a selection, mini or regular sized, in different colours and flavours. (Yes, you may be forced to test some out—for the sake of your child.)
If you are in the Fort Langley area, visit Tracycakes for multi-flavoured, lip-smacking frosted creations. And if you're not, you can also check out her two other locations in Abbotsford or White Rock for your cupcake fix.
The Uncommon Cake
If you want a fancy (and delicious) theme cake, put yourself in the floury, sugary, buttery hands of Jill Shumka of The Uncommon Cake. A cake artist extraordinaire, Jill will bring her eye for design and attention to detail to your creation with her fantastic special occasion cakes.
Shokolade Artisan Chocolates and Cafe
Schokolade Cafe is a great little spot on East Hastings where you will find a scrumptious and unique listing of hot chocolate drinks like chocolate tea, caramel compulsion, squirrel special or simply sinful. But best of all, they offer Chocolate Boot Camps for kids and will play host for your child's birthday party. Inquire about their Chocolate Appreciation Workshops or just indulge in their daily afternoon High Tea menu.
Sugary Sweet Things
Sugary Sweet Things is a designer cookie company that specializes in made-to-order gourmet sugar cookies for all your special events. Prices start from $3.50 for a minimum order of 12 and you'll be amazed by the artistry. The individually cello-wrapped cookies stay fresh for three weeks and also make excellent birthday loot bags.
Pink Ribbon Bakery
Pink Ribbon Bakery produces cakes, that would be better described as edible art, out of a pink vintage-inspired shop in New Westminster. They also sell uniquely flavoured cupcakes (root beer chocolate cake with root beer cream frosting, anyone?) in the shop. Pink Ribbon donates a portion of all earnings to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Coco Cake Cupcakes
Coco Cake Cupcakes specializes in custom-designed, vintage-feel deluxe cupcakes and cakes. Coco Cake cupcakes are super delicious, fancifully decorated and baked from scratch using only quality ingredients (gluten free on request). Inspired by vintage children's books, modern design sensibilities and old-school buttercream piping techniques, the cupcakes start at $39/dozen with a two-dozen minimum order.
Berliosca Cake Boutique
Berliosca Cake Boutique sculpts three-dimensional custom cakes that will blow your mind. Want a cake of Elmo popping out of a Jack-in-a-Box? No problem. How about one that looks exactly like the Little Prince on his little planet? Done. The artistry on these fondant cakes is exceptional. Consultations are by appointment only and prices start at $200 per cake.
