There’s nothing like a sweet or tangy crisp apple, freshly picked from an apple tree in the middle of fall.

One of my favourite family activities is filling a basket full of apples as a family in one of the many apple orchards near me. It’s the perfect fall family tradition, and many orchards also have plenty of fun activities happening. Below is a list of some of the best apple orchards near Toronto.

Applewood Farm | Stouffville, ON

A beautiful orchard with a large variety of apples for picking, this farm had been in the Passafiume family for almost fifty years! There are a variety of apples available into October when pumpkin picking then becomes a fun activity to partake in as well.

Albion Orchards and Country Market | Caledon, ON

For 2020, this picturesque farm is not offering apple picking, however, the country market is open for sales to the public and the pickers are bringing in loads of apples to put on display. Albion Orchards is hailed as one of the top apple orchards in Canada; the old-fashioned feel is still perfect for photo-taking and memory-making.

Chudleigh’s Apple Farm | Milton, ON

Possibly one of the most recognizable names for apple picking, Chudleigh’s offers a full-service apple picking experience that could easily fill a day. Family fun includes a scenic tractor ride, hay maze, farm animal friends, and play area.

Brooks Farm | Mount Albert, ON

In addition to apple picking and a tasty cafe, this family-friendly farm offers over 10 acres of outdoor fun, with enough attractions to fill an entire day. Attractions include a zip line, splash pad, train rides, jump pad, and jumping pillows, farm animals, a playhouse and slides, and many more.

Dixie Orchards | Inglewood, ON

A family-owned and operated apple farm that has an authentic country feel, complete with a wagon ride through the orchards. Dixie Orchards also offers a market with fresh baked and homemade foods.

Organics Farm | Markham, ON

One of the few certified organic apple-picking farms, Organics Farm converted to organic farming in 2001. In addition to organic apples, this farm offers naturally-raised meats and a market.
