Best Tasty Fall Treats to Enjoy Around Ottawa

Ottawa Fall Treats

Autumn is the perfect time to visit a pumpkin patch, go apple picking, or cozy up with your favourite book and a warm blanket. It’s also a great time to enjoy some local fall-themed bites around Ottawa. Want to indulge in a special treat this season? Bring on the pumpkin spice, apple and spooky treats! We’ve gathered some of our favourite options so you can make weekend plans.

The new-ish coffee shop in Old Ottawa South is offering something to warm your hungry stomach. Move over traditional bakeries and baked goods, and say hello to a bowl of gourmet oatmeal at Oat Couture. For the month of October, you can enjoy their special pumpkin oatmeal and toppings. Don’t miss out on these flavours!

Halloween Cookies at Boko Bakery

The city was sad to learn that Boko Bakery is closing its doors before the year is over after serving delicious bites to the Ottawa community for over 30 years. Before they close for good, you can treat yourself to a spooky Halloween-themed cookie to get into the spirit and support them one last time.

Pumpkin Spice Donuts at Maverick’s Donut Company

Pumpkin spice shows up during the fall in almost everything, but it may take the cake as it appears in a Maverick’s donut. What’s even better about these donuts is that they are also offering a vegan pumpkin spice donut so even more people can enjoy this taste of the season.

Pumpkin Lattes at The Black Walnut Bakery

We love everything The Black Walnut Bakery in Cumberland creates when it comes to their baked goods (you’ll have trouble deciding between a scone, croissant or butter tart, just to name a few items) but you’ll love pairing your favourite snack with their limited-time pumpkin latte. The latte is made with local Navan pumpkins too!

Apple Pie at The Piggy Market

Pumpkins and pumpkin spice seem to share a lot of glory this time of year and end up with a starring role in our favourite foods, but we can’t forget that the fall is also apple season, which is why we recommend The Piggy Market’s apple pie. Located in Westboro, The Piggy Market is serving up ready-to-go meals for your dinner or you can plan to visit the butcher to select your Sunday night roast. But you’ll definitely want to complete the meal with one of their apple pies.

Pumpkin Pie Morning Buns at Red Door Provisions

The morning buns at Red Door Provisions have our mouths watering already, but the pumpkin pie flavour is definitely getting our attention. They have a limited availability and aren’t always offered (the morning bun flavours change from time to time) but if you are lucky, they’ll be making another appearance soon!

Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream and Black Vanilla Cones at The Merry Dairy

This month, The Merry Dairy turns into the Scary Dairy and offers spooky flavours that have all the taste you expect from this amazing frozen custard shop. Enjoy a scoop of pumpkin spice ice cream and a black vanilla cone that sets the tone for the holiday well. Don’t let the cooler temperatures scare you away from enjoying a cool cone.

It’s as though Epicuria took two of our favourite flavours of certain seasons (pumpkin and maple) and created a new seasonal flavour combination that will have us craving it every month of the year. Sure, traditional pumpkin pie is great, but why not add a little maple as a bonus? You can enjoy grabbing tonight’s dinner while you are at this food shop, but we’d recommend you indulge in a seasonal dessert too.
