Zombie Apocalypse Scavenger Hunt Survival Game |

If you’ve got fans of The Walking Dead in your family, you won’t want to miss this hour-long challenge to test your zombie apocalypse survival skills. Sign up your team of up to 10 people using your smartphone and start the hunt for items on your list, including food, supplies, and shelter. Along the way, you’ll have to complete challenges and answer trivia questions to earn extra points to work your way to the goal of 4000 in order to survive!

Football fanatics, rejoice! The Canadian Football League officially kicks off this August and a Stamps game is one of the most classic family activities in Calgary you can do! The Stampeders want you to join in the fun at their home opener on August 7th!

Marda Gras |

Did you know that Marda Gras is the longest running street festival in Calgary? This pedestrian-friendly event is free for families and offers an opportunity to explore the beautiful neighbourhood of Marda Loop while checking out local vendors. In the past, the event has welcomed as many as 35,000 visitors who have come to enjoy the entertainment, pet pageant, and shopping opportunities; 2021 will be easing into the celebrations, keeping the entertainment portion of the event on hold until 2022.

If you’re looking for great ways to save on your tickets to Stamps games, tickets can be purchased for the Family Huddle section of the stadium for $21.99 plus GST. This section is general admission and alcohol-free. Tickets can be purchased at Safeway and Sobeys. Additionally, AMA members save 20% on single game tickets by filling out the form on this page.

Global Fest |

August 19 – 28 daily from 6 – 11:30 pm

Global Fest is back with a bang for 2021! Although the event will look a bit different than in previous years, with no Children’s Village, cultural pavilions, or community activation spaces, the fabulous fireworks show that fans of the festival have come to love are ready to light up the sky five nights in a row. There will be a new area opened up for viewing on the south side of the hill to allow for social distancing. The schedule for fireworks is as follows:

  • Thursday August 19 – CHINA
  • Saturday August 21 – INDIA
  • Tuesday August 24 – JAPAN
  • Thursday August 26 – PHILIPPINES
  • Saturday August 28 – FINALE

In addition to the pyrotechnics, the OneWorld Festival will feature four stages with cultural performances, as well as a delicious selection of international food booths. General Admission is $21 plus fees and VIP Passes can be purchased for  $46 plus fees.

Calgary Medieval Faire and Artisan Market |

If your family would love a chance to experience life before Covid – we’re talking wayyyy before Covid – you’ll definitely want to check out the 3rd annual Calgary Medieval Faire and Artisan Maket, where there will be knights, knaves, jousting, and medieval magicians. Stilt walkers, jugglers, face painters, and storytellers will entertain family members of all ages as you wander through the market where you can pick up one-of-a-kind treasures like jewellery, gems, swords, armour, wood and leatherwork, toys, and more! Calgary Pride Week is ready to celebrate in person and online! There are a variety of events planned throughout the city during the week, including Reading With Royalty (presented by the Calgary Public Library and led by local drag queen and king performers), The Calgary Pride Learning Series, which provides free learning to the public through online sessions, celebrations at the B!G ART Drive-In and more. You’ll also be connected with a remote guide to help you on your search. There are different versions of the challenge to complete, including the original, birthday, date day and team building.
