It’s that time of year: school is nearly out, the BBQs are coming out, and it’s almost time to celebrate our favourite dads. From grandfathers to stepdads, father figures to fathers, this is the time to make a special day for a special guy. Langley Community Day

Head to Douglas Park to take in live music, art, entertainment, kids’ crafts, a rock climbing wall and local vendors. Admission is free. Nearby parking is available for a $5 donation as a fundraiser for the local high school.
ScotFest and BC Highland Games

Plenty of cultural fun at this long-time favourite at Coquitlam Town Centre Park. Live music, dancing, beer gardens, vendors, pipe bands, whisky tasting and more, as well as the popular Highland Games competitions.
Playland

Not exclusive to Father’s Day weekend but a great destination now or any time this summer, Playland is up and running. With rides for all ages, from the wild to the mild, along with carnival games and lots of yummy fair food, this is a great option – especially since kids 3 and under are free. Classico Auto Italiana

Enjoy the unique styling of classic Italian cars and motorcycles at this auto show, hosted at Vancouver’s Italian Cultural Centre on Slocan. Food and drink on site. Free, register online in advance if you have a vehicle to show off.
Vancouver Canadians Father’s Day Game

Take in the Vancouver Canadians against the Eugene Emeralds from June 14 to 19, with a special giveaway on the final day: the first 500 dads with a child present will receive a special commemorative hat. Taking place at Nat Bailey Stadium, with tickets in advance online. The first pitch is at 1 pm
Family Fishing Day

Join the Family Fishing Day at Lafarge Lake and learn from the experts on how to catch rainbow trout. Fly tying lessons and casting lessons will also take place, as well as a raffle. No license is needed during Family Fishing Day and the event is free to join. Runs from noon to 5 pm.
Kilby Historic Site

Take a mini road trip out to Harrison Mills for this unique event. The Father’s Day Rendezvous at Kilby Historic Site runs from 11 am to 3 pm both days, with axe throwing, black powder gun shooting and bannock making. Historic actors in costume will be on site, and the museum and farm animals are open.
Sasquatch Days

This two-day community festival includes canoe races and a salmon BBQ, along with live entertainment and crafts. Admission is free. The event was on hold for 2020 and 2021 but returns to the small town of Harrison for Father’s Day weekend fun.
Old Car Sunday in the Park

Father’s Day at the Farm

History buffs will enjoy visiting Historic Stewart Farm this weekend, with the theme of Victorian Gadgets and Gizmos. The Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club will be on site with a large-scale model railway display on the lawn. Head to Stewart Hall to make a train-themed Father’s Day card and enjoy the farmhouse with drop-in visits.
