Bite Burger House

Where: Orleans and the Byward Market
Bonus bite: Look for their ooey gooey mac and cheese too!

Ottawa residents know that a burger is more than just a beef patty and at Bite Burger House, which boasts a menu filled with burger patty options like ground chuck, pork belly, and Portobello mushrooms, they know a thing or two about toppings as well. With two locations in the City, you have double the places to fulfill your craving. Parents will love the kids menu too which includes their child’s choice of burger, mac and cheese and chicken strips.

Art-is-In Bakery

Where: City Centre
Bonus bite: Don’t miss their sour dough pizza on pizza nights only.

While Art-in-in Bakery is well known for their popular breads and baked items, they also serve delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner at their cafe, including burgers on select dates and menus. You can pre-order the day of during operating hours for take out or enjoy a bite on their patio. Indulge in a Big ‘K’ burger with two top sirloin patties, lettuce, cheddar, pickles, and Big ‘K’ sauce served on a pretzel bun, or try their Hot Honey Crispy Chicken Burger. Parents, we think the kids will love the burger just for them topped with cheese on a pretzel bun.

Law and Orders

Where: Kanata
Bonus bite: Add an order of their tator tot poutine for extra deliciousness.

With multiple locations in Kanata (as well as Perth and Innisville), Law and Orders is serving up the best burgers in Ottawa’s west end. Choose from bacon burgers, cheese burgers, quarter pound burgers,  half pound burgers, veggie burgers (made with Beyond the Meat), chicken burgers and more. Their specialty burgers take a traditional burger to the next level with toppings like deep fried pickles and poutine (yes, both on the same burger, named ‘The Overkill’.)

Occo Kitchen and Bar

Where: Orleans and Downtown
Bonus bite: We can’t decide if we should tell you about their fries that you can get topped with dressing and gravy, or their tacos (because both are worth talking about).

Occo Kitchen and Bar offers burgers that will have you coming back for more like their popular Hamre Burger topped with peppered mayo and candied bacon, or their crispy fish burger topped with pickles and caperberry mayo. Each of their two locations offered their own burger as well: In Orleans, you can try their Blueberry BBQ Burger finished with brie and a blueberry BBQ sauce, and at their Downtown location bite into their Screech BBQ Crispy Chicken Burger with Screech BBQ sauce, mayo, slaw, and pickles.

Where: Wellington West
Bonus bite: Add a dozen chocolate chip cookies to your take out order to please the entire family as a sweet finale.

Absinthe, in Wellington West, has a burger that is dripping with cheese and gooey sauce and, as they say on their own menu, it’s always big! Look for it on their dinner menu or their take out menu if you want to dig into it in the comfort of your own home.

Umbrella Bar

Where: Dow’s Lake
Bonus bite: They had us at hot donuts with cinnamon sugar.

Umbrella Bar, located at Dow’s Lake (with amazing views), is serving up their version of the best burgers in Ottawa topped with cheddar, pickles, onions, lettuce, and burger sauce on a buttery bun. Choose from a single or double patty or the Beyond Meat burger. If you are a chicken burger lover, you won’t want to miss the Umbrella version with slaw, pickles and what they call a ‘comeback sauce’. Don’t forget to add curly fries to your order!

St. Martha’s Brasserie

Where: Orleans
Bonus bite: Try one of their stone hearth pizzas!

St. Martha’s Brasserie in Orleans has been delighting residents with their French inspired cooking for nearly a decade and their burger is one that is sure to please. Choose from their beef burger with duck fat on a brioche bun topped with tomato chutney and goat cheese, or order up the burger with aged cheddar and double smoked bacon. Both are served with their house fries.
