We know that everyone in the city has their favourite go-to pizza place. Maybe it’s the locally owned spot nearby or a special occasion location across town. Maybe it’s a pizza chain that pleases the entire family.

Wherever you get it, pizza is a pretty integral part of many family’s food life. It’s the perfect meal for movie night, and a crowd pleaser when you are out and about and looking to feed everyone without complaint, and frankly, pizza can be an affordable option for families.

In an attempt to expand everyone’s pizza-loving options, we’ve gathered a list of some places across Ottawa where you and your family can grab a bite of pizza. Keep these places in mind the next time you are venturing around the city and need a place to eat.

If we missed your favourite pizza place, drop the name into the comments below.

Best Pizza Places in Ottawa

The Grand Pizzeria

You’ll find The Grand Pizzeria in the Byward Market, not far from the Rideau Centre or only about 10 minutes walking distance from Parliament Hill. This makes it a prime location when you are touring around the heart of downtown Ottawa and are ready for a break. Their extensive menu of wood-fired pizza will please the most sophisticated of pizza palettes as well as those who like their pizza simple and tasty. There’s a small patio when the weather is nice. There are offerings other than pizza in case someone needs an appetizer or a different bite, plus they serve weekend brunch. And yes, their brunch menu has breakfast pizza available!

Crust & Crate

With two locations in Ottawa, Crust & Crate is offering their take on pizza at Lansdowne and in Ottawa’s East End (on Ogilvie). With their creative pizza menu, with toppings like brie cheese, pulled pork, pineapple salsa and many many more, we think everyone will be able to find their favourite combination. There’s a menu for kids as well which we know is important when choosing takeout for many families.

Fiazza

Fiazza’s customized pizza menu is perfect for indecisive family members, but their delicious wood-fired oven pizza will please even the pickiest of eaters. When you arrive at Fiazza, you can select from their pizza creations or make your own perfectly topped selection. Each pizza is made to order and created on the spot, then fired in their wood oven for an amazing result. There are tables for eating in, but you can grab and go too if you wanted to find a local park. Fiazza is located in the Byward Market.

Tennessy Willems

Hintonburge’s Tennessy Willems is a family-friendly pizza place that is great for dine-in or take-out. We are drooling just thinking about the Bianco pizza (with pears, walnuts, and gorgonzola), the Greek pizza with olives, feta, peppers, and pesto, or the classic, but always tasty, Margherita. There are options outside of their wood oven pizza menu, but we know the pizza can be the star. Tennessy Willems opens for lunch at 11:30 most days of the week, and for the dinner hour at 4 pm on Sunday.

La Dolce Vita

Located on Preston Street, La Dolce Vita offers some adventurous, but no less delicious, pizza selections. We love the atmosphere when sitting in the restaurant, but on a nice day, their patio overlooking Preston Street is a lovely spot to sit with the kids and enjoy your pizza. The Five Cheese pizza has a pesto base and five different cheeses, and their seafood pizza is topped with shrimp, smoked salmon and scallops. If you are looking for a more simple and classic pizza, there are many to choose from like the New York pizza. Pizza is available for dine-in or take-out.

Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery

There are two Big Rig locations in Ottawa—in the West End at Pinecrest (near Ikea) and in the East End (at the Gloucester Shopping Centre). In addition to their local brews, their extensive menu includes pizza for the family to enjoy. While the family may want to go with the classic pepperoni and cheese pizza, other menu options like the BBQ Chicken is sure to please the taste buds. We also love the Kids Menu at Big Rig which offers a pizza with caesar salad but includes a drink and dessert.
