Family-Friendly Summer Festivals
Festival season in the city is now in full swing, so if you’re wondering where to start or which are the most family friendly, we’ve got you covered!
This month we’re heading to the Beaches International Jazz Festival. Along with great music—we’ll be taking our Pitch Perfect-loving crew to the aca-awesome SING! A Cappella Stage. There will also be a youth stage and a kids’ mural project to keep the wee ones’ creativity going.
Franco-Fete, on until July 24, has been expanded to 14 days to encompass the PAN AM Games. Based in Yonge-Dundas Square you can celebrate 400 years of French culture in Ontario with musical performances, and on July 23 at 11 am the kids can party with Caillou.
The weekend of August 7 gives you two big options: Taste of the Danforth is a city-favourite celebration of Greek culture and food. This year festival organizers are trying to break two world records: the largest tug-of-war and the most people doing the standing long jump. They’ve also got a Kids’ Fun Zone and of course a lot of food. Just outside of the city, you’ve got The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games. From children’s dance competitions and caber tosses, to an artisans’ marketplace and haggis, the kids can soak up Celtic culture.
