Toronto Moms, Here’s How to Keep Them Entertained All Break
You did it. The holidays are upon us. We all made it. Cheers to us.
Now we just have two whole school-free weeks to enjoy survive with the kids.
But fear not, we’re here to help you either make the most of this holiday break, or get through it in one piece—depending on your outlook.
Not up for braving the cold? There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the Great Indoors. Cozy up with a book (one for them, one for you, and one to read together), do some baking (here are four easy kid-friendly recipes), play a board game (our faves for kids both young and old), or a make a fun craft. Make the most of it by turning it into a friendly competition, and just enjoy the moment.
If the kids are going stir-crazy and you all need to get out of the house, then go tobogganing at one of the best hills in town, hit up one of the city’s best skating rinks, or take refuge at an indoor playground and let the kids blow off some steam.
Still looking for more? Check out a few of these wonderful holiday events on around town—there’s still time!
For some post-Christmas fun, here’s what’s on our list:
Run, don’t walk, to the best show in town. Even adults are loving this one. Matilda is only here until January 7, and then it’s gone.
Hockey Hall of Fame? We recently discovered it’s not just for hockey fans. We were pleased as punch to find out that this visit is still fun even if you’re not super into the sport—meaning it’s a great outing for the whole family.
Head to the ROM. They’ve got extended holiday hours, and if you haven’t had a chance to see the fabulous CHIHULY exhibit or the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit, now’s a perfect chance.
Check out the city from A to Z. The kids get really into checking off the letters on the list, and playing tourist in your own town is always fun.
Been to the library lately? There’s so much more to do than just check out books to read at home. From pop-up learning labs to STEM story times, the TPL is cool again. And you can’t beat the price of membership: free.
Does you kid love video games? Movies? Outer space? The Ontario Science Centre has some amazing exhibits on right now that are educational in a super sneaky way. Your kiddo won’t even know they’re…gasp…learning.
Happy Holidays!
