Get Lucky

luckydoughnuts_VAN

Long gone are the lazy weekend mornings where we’€™d gather with our friends at our favourite brunch spot and spend hours rehashing the hilarious antics of the previous night. These days, weekend mornings are spent on the soccer pitch, ski hill or favourite puddle-filled playground. Eggs Benny is a distant memory.
But wait’€”check out Lucky’€™s Doughnuts by 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters. Lucky’€™s does only two things’€”coffee and doughnuts’€”and they do them both very well. In the name of research, we sampled the Classic Old Fashioned (yum!), Salted Caramel (double yum!), Apple Bacon Fritter (‘€˜nuff said), PB and J (so good!) and, finally, the Glazed (simply perfection). Trying to pick a favourite is like trying to choose among your children.

The location is spacious and hipster-cool, with communal tables, wide-stroller accessible aisles, sun-soaked window seats, Neil Young cooing on the sound system and truly delectable doughnuts. (Did we mention the coffee?)

And at $2.50 to $3.50 per doughnut (and 15% off when you buy six), it’€™s bargain brunch on the go that makes the whole family lucky!
