Where to See Santa Claus Parades in Calgary 2019

Santa Claus Parades_feature

Although the City of Calgary hasn’t hosted a Santa Claus Parade in years, there are still quite a few opportunities to catch Saint Nick in action over the next two months. Mark your calendar for 2019’s Santa Claus Parades in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, High River and Banff so you don’t miss your chance to see the jolly old elf as he takes up the helm!

Banff Santa Claus Parade and Christmas Market

When: Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 6 pm.

The town of Banff has a day full of fun planned on November 16. The Mini CP train departs from the “station” at the Fairmont Banff Springs between 12 and 2 pm, and kids can meet the man in red for photos at Warner Stables between 10 am and 3 pm. After photos, do a little Christmas shopping at the market before catching Santa in action as part of the parade at dusk!  Finish off the night with carolling by candlelight at Central Park from 7 to 8 pm.

Airdrie Santa Claus Parade

When: Saturday, December 7, from 5 to 6 pm

The town of Airdrie will be welcoming Santa Claus and his parade full of floats between 5 and 6 pm along the main street. Road closures begin at 4:30, so be sure to make your way to the parade route early! After the parade, visit the dazzling festival of lights between 6 and 9 pm at Nose Creek Park. Warm up by a bonfire, sip some hot chocolate, and strap on some skates to zip around Nose Creek Pond (if the weather permits!)

High River Santa Claus Parade

When: Friday, December 6, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm

Head down to High River on December 6th to celebrate their 33rd annual Christmas Parade! This year’s theme is “Winter Wonderland”, and the magic for the evening begins at George Lane Park at 5:00, where there will be hot dogs, hot chocolate, and light wands (while supplies last) courtesy of The Lions Club of High River, High Country Chev, Buick, GMC, Servus Credit Union, and Spectrum Eye Care. The Christmas lights in the park will be turned on and live entertainment will take place on the Stampede Stage (corner of 5th Avenue and McLeod Trail SW) and will continue after the parade until 8:30 pm. Following the parade, Santa visits will take place in the Museum of the Highwood.

Cochrane Santa Claus Parade

When: Saturday, December 7, at 6 pm

The town of Cochrane will be hosting their second annual Santa Claus parade this year between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. Check their website for updated information once it becomes available!

Mahogany Parade of Lights

When: Saturday, December 7, from 5 to 8 pm

The community of Mahogany will be hosting a 30 to 40-minute parade featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus. The parade will include floats for local businesses and groups as well as special surprise guests. Find the perfect spot along the route before 5:00 – the parade starts near the future Central Park and circles inner Mahogany Loop along Masters Ave. There is no cost to attend the parade, but non-perishable food items and cash donations will be gratefully accepted for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank, as well as Toys to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
