Why You Should Go to the Etsy Made in Canada Show
This weekend, from Friday to Sunday, Ottawa will see the return of the Etsy Made in Canada market. Now in its fifth year, and still hosted by Cheerfully Made, Etsy Made in Canada feels like the kick off to the artisan market season and is the perfect time to begin your holiday shopping.
Supporting the hard-working creators who are sellers at the show is a great bonus. But, you’re also sure to find something incredible and stunning from the local vendors who are selling handcrafted, upcycled and one of a kind items like jewelry, bath products, treats, cocktail mix, wall art and so much more.
If you want more information about the Etsy Made in Canada market, visit the Facebook page. Tickets are available in advance for the Friday night market, or at the door during the weekend, and it’s being held at the Carleton University Fieldhouse.
Admission to the Friday Night Market is $15 which gives you the bonus of scoping out items before the weekend rush, a free tote bag, and the chance to win prizes. Admission on Saturday and Sunday is $5. Children under 16 are free.
Friday, September 28: 6-9 pm (special tickets required)
Saturday, September 29: 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday, September 30: 10 am – 4 pm
Shops you’ll love at the Etsy Made in Canada Show
Felt books, play food and more are carefully handcrafted by Qute Creations. Look for their pocket mermaids, rainbow puzzles and other items for babies and children. We fell in love with their play tea bags a few years ago and can’t help but recommend them now because of how well loved they are!
We love everything about MiniGeeks because they are promoting all things geeky and fun with stylish clothing for our kids (and for mamas!) Whether you’re a Star Wars fan, Pokemon aficionado or comic book lover, you’ll be able to dress your kids in their grow-with-me pants, unique dresses and even sweaters for moms to show off their geeky nature.
If you love gorgeous fabric, you’ll want to swing by Silly Studio’s table at the market. The girls’ gathered skirts are made from sweet prints, and there are bonnets and hair clips to finish off your little one’s fashionable look; they even accept custom orders.
Okay, we’ll confess, we’re adding this to our recommended list because we know you won’t want to miss out on their delicious treats. And if you decide not to share them with your family, we won’t judge. The beautiful chocolate offerings and sweet treats not only make amazing gifts for others but for yourself too!
For a whimsical, unique edition to your child’s nursery or playroom, the wool animal creations by Fibre Art by Wendo may appeal to you. Each hand-crafted piece becomes it’s own one-of-a-kind creation for your family to enjoy for years to come.
Have you noticed the popularity of buttons and pins on your children’s jackets, bags, and other accessories? We think it’s great that statement pieces like buttons can help our kids express themselves and show a bit of their personality (and favourite things) at the moment. That’s why you’ll want to stop by Ifs, Ands or Buttons at the market to look for stocking stuffers or special gifts.
There are many, many more vendors who will be at Etsy Made in Canada and we think you’ll love exploring and shopping them all this weekend.
