Where to Get the Best Pies in Toronto

During the fall season our thoughts and taste buds turn to pie. The last of the summer berries are still making an appearance, crisp apples are making us dream of hot apple pie with fragrant cinnamon, smothered in vanilla ice cream, and with Thanksgiving right around the corner—we've got pumpkin pie on the brain. So whether for a dinner party, family meal, or the Thanksgiving feast itself, we've got you covered with a bunch of delicious pastry options.

We first encountered North Shore Pie Co. when they were called Wisey's Pies and had just opened on Eglinton near Laird. Now that location is moving and they have a new store in Roncy Village. Known for their savoury New Zealand-inspired pies, they also make delicious apple pies (in traditional and crumble varieties). So why not pick up a savoury pie for one meal and bring home delicious dessert for another.

Oh my, Bakerbots has tasty pie! You simply can't go wrong with the traditional apple or pumpkin varieties to finish off a lovely fall meal. And if you purchase a wee butter tart or cookie to sample as a reward for completing that particular errand, then we salute you.

Life with kids mean that a visit to Downey's farm is a great way to spend a weekend. But it's not just the farm activities that we look forward to—we're really in it for the pie. We adore the apple crumble and peach berry, but check out all the flavours on offer and find your favourite!

This sweet bakery offers all of the classic pies, but they're known for their ‘jacked up' pies, and man, are they awesome. The kids will fall hard for s'mores pie or peanut butter and jelly, while the adults are drooling over the jacked up version of our pumpkin fave (above), complete with salted caramel and candied pecans.

If you're headed up north for apple picking or the cottage, make a detour and stop at Hockley General Store or Rosemount General Store, both of which carry frozen pies from Laura's Luscious Desserts. These are the best pies we have ever tasted (sorry, Mom) and bake up to perfection. We drool for the strawberry rhubarb and peach, but there are a bunch of different flavours.
