Sal Y Limón
We know you’re not supposed to play favourites, but Sal y Limon (salt and lime) at Kingsway and Fraser is our favourite Mexican restaurant in Vancouver. The food selection is diverse, from tacos and burritos to huaraches and tortas. We love everything here: from the hot sauce bar to the Mexican art on the walls to the kiddos play area.

La Casita
La Casita at Cordova and Abbott is a popular Mexican Gastown locale. The space is fun, colourful and there are always families about. Check out their daily specials. We’re a fan of their $3 taco Tuesdays and $6 burrito (and for moms and dads, $3 margarita) Mondays. They also have lunch specials and offer up a free meal on your birthday!

Las Margaritas
Located on West 4th (at Maple), Las Margaritas has an extensive menu and a great happy hour. (Monday to Friday from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.) They’re also super kid-friendly: they have crayons, a kid’s menu and even kiddo margaritas! After you’re done devouring all that Mexican food, head to the beach. It’s less than a 15 minute walk away.

Tacofino
Tacofino is a Vancouver institution, with locations in Hastings-Sunrise, Gastown, Yaletown and two food trucks. They specialize in California and Mexican-inspired beach food, like tacos, nachos, burritos and tortilla soup. Tacofino tends to be quite busy, so it’s best to bring along older kiddos that aren’t bothered by the noise and bustling activity.

We’ve talked about the brunch at Bandidas before, but this vegetarian Mexican restaurant
at Commercial and 12th is worth mentioning again. The space is fun, vibrant and very kid-friendly. The kiddos will love the fun art on the walls and the children’s play area. And, the food? Even carnivores will fall in love with their veggie menu.

Los Cuervos Taqueria & Cantina
Los Cuervos on Kingsway (one block west of Fraser and Sal y Limon) is a funky Mexican restaurant. They have a popular happy hour; and they’re very kid-friendly. One Vancouver momma we spoke to says she brings her 15-month old there for happy hour nearly every week. They have all the favourites, as well as: churros. Sign us up!
