6 Awesome Parks In Toronto
Want to go on a family adventure without the hassle of planning and packing for a road trip? Here are six awesome parks around town that we think are worth making a special trip to, even if they're not in your own backyard.
-
Sherwood Park
Get away from the city, without going too far, with a visit to Sherwood Park where you can camp out on a picnic blanket all day. Kids won't want to miss out on the splash pad.
Good to Know: In July and August, Sherwood Park is full of summer campers so avoid weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm or so for a more restful experience.
-
High Park
As the largest park in the Toronto area, it's only in good taste that it has a nine-stop train station that runs year-round. Kids will enjoy the 10,000 square foot playground and, on summer nights, the family can check out Shakespeare in the Park.
Good to Know: Cash only accepted for the train ticket so bring along a stash.
-
Franklin Children's Garden on Centre Island
Experience the outdoors while being surrounded by the adventures of Franklin and friends, depicted through bronze structures. Kids can hike, play and splash, but parents will enjoy strolling the gorgeous, masterful gardens.
Good to Know: If you make it to the top of the Unilever Snail Trail, you'll be at the highest point on the Toronto Islands.

Pricefield Park
Pricefield Park is like a hidden treasure, tucked away in the Rosedale neighbourhood. The playground sits in front of a CP Railway backdrop with about 40 trains passing by each day. If the kids are feeling sporty, they can utilize the soccer field nearby.

Bloordale Park
Bloordale Park has come a long way from a swing set and a slide to a spectacular playground with endless possibilities for kids.
Good to Know: With 10.4 hectares to show off, Bloordale is home to gorgeous walking paths. Pack up a picnic basket, sunscreen and hats and make it a day trip.

Corktown Common
This modern park is minimalist with vast open spaces. To us, that just means there's more room for little ones to have fun and spark creativity. What we like best is that you can see the Toronto skyline and Lake Ontario, as well as the surrounding neighbourhoods.
