Summer Staycation

When you live in the most beautiful city in the world, why leave? It’s easy to have a staycation in Vancouver, the hard thing is choosing from the amazing options on our doorstep. As always, we’re here to help.

A forty minute drive from Vancouver’s North Shore, the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish is all the rage, and for good reason. Take in views of Howe Sound on the ten-minute gondola ascent, and at the top explore hiking trails and the suspension bridge before visiting the restaurant. The journey from Vancouver takes you along the spectacular Sea to Sky highway, make a pit stop at the Galileo Coffee Company at Britannia Beach for seriously good java.

Pack towels and sunscreen and head to Cultus Lake Waterpark for a day of aquatic thrills. Between the Adventure River and the Colossal Canyon, there is something for all ages. To beat the crowds, go earlier in the summer and as early in the day as possible (gates open at 10 am).

If fish are your thing head to the Village of Steveston in Richmond and buy fresh catch off the wharf from one of the 600 fishing vessels that are moored, or go to Pajo’s for fish and chips.

Walk on the ferry to Bowen Island for a truly coastal experience. A twenty-minute boat ride from Horseshoe Bay transports you to this quaint island, with artisan shops to explore and hiking trails for meandering, and fantastic food at Tuscany Pizza.

Still can’t decide? Rock, paper, scissors will get the job done.
