Yah! It’s officially spring! It’s time to get out there and take advantage despite Toronto’s wonky weather. Below we highlight a few ways your family can ease its way into springtime. And since there will likely be some rainy days, we’ve made sure to include several indoor activities. A quick reminder that we also have a roundup of Easter-focused events, for those of you looking to keep your families entertained over that extra-long weekend.

Easter Hopfest

Hopfest keeps the tradition of the traditional Easter event alive with egg hunts, rides, and photo ops with the Easter Bunny. There’s games and prizes and plenty of fun for every memeber of the family.
Fireside Munsch

Fun & Learning in High Park

Celebrate spring in Toronto’s largest park! This April, the High Park Nature Centre is hosting several family-friendly events that will get your kids outside and learning about our natural world. On Sunday April 12, come along for the Brilliant Beavers Nature Walk and spend an afternoon learning about nature’s architect: the brilliant beaver in Toronto’s High Park! On a family-friendly nature walk, learn about the beaver’s life cycle, their diet, and how their dams influence ecosystems, including mitigating the impacts of forest fires. ($10 per person and free for babes in arms).
And on Sunday April 19, don’t miss All In the Family with Mountsberg Raptor Centre. Mountsberg Raptor Centre returnd to High Park Nature Centre to share their knowledge on birds of prey found in Ontario, their adaptations, and the threats they face. Pre-registration is required for all events and pricing varies by date.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show

The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by author/illustrator Eric Carle has delighted generations of readers since it was first published in 1969 selling more than 43 million copies worldwide. Now created by Jonathan Rockefeller, the critically acclaimed production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show features a menagerie of 75 lovable puppets, faithfully adapting four of Eric Carle stories!
Mattmac & Phoenix the Fire Adaptive Concert

This is a rare opportunity to see blind music producer and artist Mattmac perform in a family-friendly style that embraces neurodiversity and disability. Therapy dogs will be present and ASL interpretation will be provided, with musical ASL performed by Phoenix the Fire. All expressions are welcome! Feel free to make noise, get up, or stim! A $5 refundable deposit required, additional donations are welcome.

Community Clean Ups & Other Earth Day Activities

Your family can show our planet some love this Earth Day by participating in one of the community clean-ups organized by the City of Toronto. All clean-ups take place at or near the city’s historic museums, including the Todmorden Mills (67 Pottery Rd.), Montgomery’s Inn (4709 Dundas St. W.) and Fort York (250 Fort York Blvd.). Litter bags will be provided but please bring your own gloves. Depending on the location, your hard work may be rewarded with refreshments and a tour of one of the nearby historic buildings. Timings vary by location and participation is free.
