While we can’t dine in person at our favourite restaurants right now, we’ve rounded up a few delicious brunch options to try at home in and around Ottawa.
Local Public Eatery
Found at the popular Lansdowne Park, Local Public Eatery boasts a menu that is far from your regular bacon and eggs for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. | locallansdowne.com
If you are looking for a casual food with delicious choices like crepes, waffles and scones, try Stella Luna on Bank Street. If you’re brunching during the summer months, there’s cool gelato on-site to indulge in for a little post-brunch dessert.
Stella Luna has two other locations in the Ottawa region and each offers takeout and a grab and go section. | slgelato.com
Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery
There are two locations of Big Rig Kitchen in the city (Pinecrest, near IKEA, and the Gloucester Centre). While the menu includes the regular brunch fare like pancakes (which we know are kid favourites), it’s hard not to want to try something a bit more savoury like the Turkey Dinner Waffle Sandwich.
Spin Kitchen and Bar
Located in the downtown Ottawa Marriott Hotel, Spin Kitchen and Bar serves brunch seven days a week. With the extensive menu, every family member is sure to find a favourite. | spinkitchenbar.com
If you haven’t tried Flap Jacks yet, you don’t know what you’re missing! The kids will be flipping out for these tasty items. Beyond the fluffy, delicious pancakes they serve (loved by parents and kids alike), their entire menu is full of enticing sweet and savoury options. You can get brunch at any time (they are open 7 days a week, from 8 am until 11 pm)—just one reason we love it.
The menu includes omelettes, panwiches (pancake sandwiches of course!) and battered bacon. It’s hard to resist. | flapjacks.ca
Café Latte Cino
The breakfast and brunch food at Cafe Latte Cino makes us drool. Parents may want to indulge in the waffle sandwich that has eggs and sausages between waffle halves (with syrup on the side), but our kids always go for the gelato-topped waffles. The hardest decision will be deciding which kind of gelato to choose. There are lots of great takeout and gift options as well. | cafelattecino.com
At both Zak’s Diner locations in Ottawa (Byward Market and Kanata) they serve breakfast all day long. Their kids’ menu includes pancakes, French toast, and a classic scrambled egg breakfast. Zak’s is open 24hrs with delivery and takeout available. | zaksdiner.com
Locally-owned OCCO Kitchen is serving up delicious breakfast bites at both of their locations and you’ll want to keep returning to try all of their menu offerings like pancakes or their AM poutine, and to indulge in their from-scratch bread. The Orleans OCCO Kitchen offers breakfast and brunch on the weekends only but the downtown location (temporarily closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic) cooks up their breakfast menu every day of the week (and they even make their own donuts!). | occokitchen.com
