Be Cultural

Looking for somewhere to take the kids this month? We found somewhere warm and cozy, filled with inspiring ways to explore, where they can play and create, and you don’€™t have to clean up the mess. Intrigued?
It’€™s the Glenbow Museum, and the news you might not know is that it offers a ‘€˜Weekend at the Museum’€™ three times a year, when the exhibition floors are filled with programs and events specifically geared towards families. ‘€˜Weekend at the Museum’€™ aims to get families interacting with exhibits and participating in creative activities by providing fun, lively events that involve all the areas of the museum over the course of two days.

The next one takes place Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10, and will feature activities inspired by the entire museum, including historical artifacts and current art-focused exhibitions. Your family can enjoy art-making, performances and storytelling all focused around the theme ‘€˜Spirit of the City,’€™ celebrating art and culture in Calgary.

Channel your inner artist with Lynne Huras of Silly Goat Studio or take part in one of many activities from painting to sculpting. Enjoy some music and storytelling with Samantha Whelan Kotkas of Storyfair Productions. Make sure to bring your imagination and creativity for what will be a spectacular event!

Good to Know: Admission is $32 for a family of two adults and up to four children (or free for members). All activities, workshops and supplies are included. Also, you can enter here for a chance to win a Family Pass (valued at $32).

Stay warm, stay inside and be cultural this March.
