Take a (Spring) Break

Girlworksonartproject

Spring Break is here. Excited? There’s a bit of a love-hate sentiment in the air, apparently. We embrace the chance to let go of routine but for those with work commitments or bored kids, more than a week without structure leaves a space that screams to be filled (oh, and remember Easter is tacked on to the end of the break this year).
Fortunately, Spring Break camps abound for preschool to elementary school-aged kids. The City of Calgary offers a variety of all-purpose activity camps located at leisure and art centres and many still have spots available. But, if you’re looking for something with a little novelty-power, check out these gems located just off the beaten track.

Arts
Calgary Young People’s Theatre presents your kids in their own production. Kids spend a week learning basic percussion on West African drums overlaid by an original script and performed on the final day. Full-day (ages 6–12) and half-day camps (ages 4–6) are available.

U B the Artist offers one-day camps for kids interested in learning how to paint pottery or fuse glass. Classes take place in their McKenzie Towne studio and children return home with a masterpiece in hand.
