Best Family-Friendly Calgary Hotels
Whether you’re visiting Calgary from out of town or just want to have a little staycation with your family, the first order of business is deciding where you want to stay! On my hunt for the best kid-friendly hotels in YYC, I found six great ones that have amenities that everyone in the family is guaranteed to love.

Our family recently had the opportunity to stay at the Hyatt, which is located in the heart of downtown right off of Stephen Avenue. Visitors and Calgarians alike will love how close the Hyatt is to destinations like the Glenbow Museum, the Calgary Tower, the New Central Library, the Wonderland Sculpture and more. Inside the hotel, we were greeted by incredibly friendly staff and a beautiful room which had a crib set up and ready to go for our one year old to sleep in. Our stay included Club Access, which gave us the chance to enjoy to complimentary drinks, snacks, appetizers and breakfast in the Regency Club on the 18th floor. Our whole family loved splashing around in the warm pool, which had the perfect view of the Calgary Tower! After spending the evening at the pool, we all snuggled into our beds to watch a movie on the 65″ TV in our room. The Hyatt has recently started serving weekend brunch at Thomsons Kitchen & Bar, where guests can choose to order food à la carte, or grab something from their large buffet. We loved our stay at the Hyatt and can’t wait to go back!

We recently had a great time visiting the Fairmont Palliser with our little ones. The gorgeous lobby made us feel like we were in a castle, which was definitely exciting for our kiddos, and our room had plenty of space to spread out and get comfortable. There is also a pool and hot tub, which provided great entertainment for all four of us. The Fairmont Palliser is located downtown, which puts it within walking distance of many popular Calgary attractions. If you’re looking for a little outing for just the grownups in your party, why not get the Palliser to hire a babysitter for you through Nannies On Call – a childcare agency which provides babysitting for $18 an hour?

The Sheraton Cavalier is a popular spot for families to stay, especially if they’re looking for a hotel close to the airport. Kids will love being welcomed into the hotel by the giant pandas at the entrance, and won’t want to leave the Oasis Waterpark which has two large waterslides that will keep them busy for hours. The hotel also has a fun treasure hunt for kids to participate in and offers passes to attractions like Calaway Park, Telus Spark, and the Calgary Zoo for a reduced rate.

If a water park is what you look for in a family-friendly hotel, the Best Western Plus Port O’Call is a fantastic option. Their 8,000 square foot water park has two water slides, a wading pool, two hot tubs, and a leisure pool. This hotel near the airport has a complimentary, 24-hour airport shuttle, making it a great place to stay if it’s your last stop before hopping on a flight towards your next destination. Guests of the hotel can also purchase “Stay and Play” packages to some of Calgary’s top destinations, like Telus Spark and Heritage Park, for a reduced rate.

For thrill-seeking families, the Carriage House offers a package which includes passes to Calaway Park at a reduced rate. On-site, there is complimentary hot breakfast, in addition to a bakery and restaurant.
