Earth Day: yet another teachable moment. And we shall not let this moment pass.
Remember what the Lorax said: ‘€œUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’€™s not.’€ So make sure you get out with your kids this weekend (Sunday is Earth Day) to ensure they start caring.

When they’€™re finished playing in the dirt, hose them down and take the family to the RA Centre for Eco Expo, aka the Ottawa Healthy Living Show. With more than 100 local organizations offering food tastings, massage treatments, product discounts and demos, you’€™ll come home inspired. There’€™s a Children’€™s Fun Zone, and exhibitors include yoga studios, organic farmers, seed companies, and fair trade clothing boutiques.

Did you know admission to the Canadian Museum of Nature is free on Earth Day? Check out the museum’€™s Environmental Film Festival, or bring the gang to an Earth Ranger show or Earth Day Children’€™s Concert.

When you’€™ve squeezed everything teachable out of the day, hand the kids over to your beloved husband or a sitter and head to the Wall Space Gallery in Westboro for an Environmental Art Show billed ‘€œWhere the Wild Things’€¦Aren’€™t?’€ Opening with a reception from 4 to 6 pm on Earth Day, this exhibition will showcase art created in response to the age-old dilemma: What is the relationship between humanity and nature? That’€™s sure to get you thinking.

It’€™s not easy changing the world, we know. Just focus on one kid at a time’€¦ Tested by Patti R., Ottawa
