Stop Reading This Book, written by Caroline Fernandez and illustrated by Shannon O’Toole is a cute, silly and fun picture book that encourages kids to read by using comedy and contradictions. The book itself comes alive as a character and tries to protect its pages from mischief-making that you, the reader, might be getting into.

From the line “Is someone helping you read this book? Ask them to stop right now, please and thank you” at the beginning of the book to “You, my friend, are a hero. I guess you can’t judge a reader by their cover!” at the end, this picture book is a simple, cute way to encourage kids to keep reading.
