The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is Coming to Toronto and Just Take Our Money Right Now, Eric Carle

This is super cute and sweet. Calling all those of us who adore the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar! I can’t count how many times I’ve read it to my kids—and is it just me, or does it make for a ridiculously cute birthday party theme?

If you have a little caterpillar lover in your home, you’re likely going to love this. The stories of Eric Carle have made their way off the page and onto the stage, and the Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is coming to Toronto this summer!

Even though I don’t do it very often, I love taking my daughters to shows. It feels so special to dress up a little, head to the theatre and watch my kids as they’re captivated by what’s happening on stage. But with three daughters, it can sometimes be hard to find something that works for all ages. However, I’m pretty darn certain that my youngest is going to love the larger-than-life puppets (there are 75 of them!) and colours just as much as my oldest will love the storytelling. The best part is—the show is 50 minutes long with no intermission. The perfect amount of time for fidgety kids who can’t sit for hours.

Tickets range from $39.50 to $59.50, and VIP seats are also available, which include a special gift to take home and a meet and greet photo-op with the Hungry Caterpillar himself. Cuteness overload.

A Truly Inclusive Show

The extra nice thing is that the show is inclusive—it’s designed to be autism-friendly as well as open to all children with sensory issues. During the show, the sounds are kept quieter, the houselights remain half-on for the show, there’s a ‘no shushing’ rule, which means everyone can just relax and enjoy. Sounds like kid-and-parent heaven to me. Plus, if you have a child on the spectrum attending a show with a group, you can email the show with your name, the date and time of the performance and your seat numbers, and they’ll ensure a fidget is available for your child. Love that. You can even get access to a social story to read at home before attending to explain what to expect at the show.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show runs weekends from July 21 to September 30, 2018 at the Al Green Theatre, 750 Spadina Avenue. For tickets and more info, check out the website here.

This post was created in partnership with the Very Hungry Caterpillar Show. But all the gushing at how cute it looks is a reflection of our own (very excited) opinion.
