Things To Do Over the Family Day Long Weekend in Ottawa
The Family Day long weekend is an extra-long weekend for some kids in the Ottawa area thanks to a PD Day, making it the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together. Even if you don’t have the Family Day Monday off, there are many special events taking place all over the city during the course of the weekend where families can make memories together.
Enjoy the Final Weekend of Winterlude
If you have been meaning to get to Winterlude, either to enjoy the slides at Snowflake Kingdom or the sculptures on Sparks Street, this is your final weekend chance to get to one of the locations and enjoy the event. Monday, February 17th is officially the last day so browse the website and make those plans while you can!
Groove with Monkey Rock
Firstly, the special Monkey Rock Family Day long weekend event on February 17th is being held at the Overflow Brewing Company. The ticketed event has two special showtimes that day (11 am – 12 pm and 3:30 – 4:30 pm) and features Monkey Rock music as well as their take on modern and classic rock music. This is sure to be a fun way for your family to bond over music together.
Meet Elsa at the Grand Pizzeria
The ice queen herself, Elsa, is taking a quick trip from Arendelle to make an appearance at The Grand Pizzeria on Sunday, February 16th from 1 to 2 pm on their outdoor patio. There will be special activities just for the kids, fire pits and hot chocolate will be served. This is a free event!
Learn About Science at the Museum of Science and Technology
Cool Science Saturday on February 15th at the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology is the perfect way to stay warm but learn about the cold weather through science demonstrations. This special event is a part of your museum entry.
Family Day Drag Extravaganza with Ten Oaks
Join the Ten Oaks Project for their annual Family Day event! This year, head to the Ottawa Main Public Library on February 16th for a Drag Queen and Volunteer Story Time followed by special activities. The event is free between 1:30 and 3:30 pm.
Family Day on the Farm
The animals will be waiting for you and your family to join them for a special Family Day at the Farm (The Canadian Agriculture and Food Museum)! All day long on February 17th (while the museum is open) there will be special demonstrations and features like fruity pancake making and craft time.
Free Public Skate at TD Place
Grab your skates and helmets and head to Lansdowne for a free family skate at the arena at TD Place from 1 to 3 pm on February 14th. You’ll also be able to enjoy time browsing around the Lansdowne Area or taking in an Ottawa 67s game, which brings us to our next suggestion!
Go to the Ottawa 67’s Family Day Game
Buy your tickets for the 2 pm Ottawa 67’s game on Family Day Monday for an afternoon of hockey and excitement. Be one of the first 2000 guests in the building to receive a free toque! If that’s not enough to get excited about (other than the fact that you’ll be cheering on your home team!) there will be a wiener dog race. This family day game is sure to be a blast! Winter Skate Day
It’s Winter Skate Day in Kanata at Bandmaster Park on February 16th from 1 pm until 3 pm. Enjoy hot chocolate and a skate with your family in your local neighbourhood. Enjoy music and a snowman building competition (weather permitting). More details can be found on their Facebook page.
