Chocolate Camp

We know it’€™s good for kids to learn how to make things. That’€™s why we give them blocks, paints, Plasticine and Lego to play with. But what about teaching them to make something they’€™ll really love’€¦something that we love too’€¦like chocolate?
We have just the place for you.

Schokolade Cafe is a great little spot on East Hastings where you can find a scrumptious and unique listing of hot chocolate drinks, such as Chocolate Tea, Caramel Compulsion, Squirrel Special or Simply Sinful. But best of all, they offer Chocolate Boot Camps for kids and will play host at your child’€™s birthday, where kids learn how to make chocolates at parties with themes such as Hearts, Oceanic Creatures, Garden Flowers, Various Sports and more. Kids bring back their creations in a goodie bag at the end of the party.

If you are looking to learn the art of chocolate making yourself, inquire about their Chocolate Appreciation Workshop or just indulge with pre-reserved afternoon of Chocolate High Tea for special occasions or their daily afternoon High Tea menu (no reservations required). As a bonus, High Tea is free for children under age 4.

Another great spot for chocolate-making classes is Cocoa Nymph. Most of their adult-only classes are held at their Westside (10th and Alma) location, but a few are being held at their new 7th and Ontario Street digs, too. Be sure to book soon, as these classes fill up fast.

Known in ancient times as the food of gods, chocolate is now known to have many health benefits. So we’€™re embracing it more than ever because savvy moms know a little indulgence now and again is good for the soul.
