It’s not glamorous or fun, but moms who are savvy know that safety comes first. So we think about stuff like earthquake preparedness and safe-sleeping protection for our family. And we’re glad to discover local businesses who do too.
Preparedness
Knowing you have an emergency plan in place can ease anxiety, and for one local mom that need turned into a new business. After her first child, Lena Jerabek decided it was time for her growing family to purchase an earthquake preparedness kit. However, she had a very hard time finding one. So in March 2011, she launched BeeSafe Solutions, which offers 72-hour kits, all packaged in a water-resistant backpack, for individuals, couples and families.
The basic kit includes food, water, solar blankets, a first-aid kit, flashlight/radio (wind-up, no batteries required), and a 72-hour Emergency Preparedness Manual. The deluxe kit includes the basic kit items, as well as a hygiene kit, supplies for shelter, rescue, lighting and communication and an activity kit to pass the hours.
