Best Baby Shower Tips
We've all heard the saying 'the devil is in the details' and this definitely holds true when planning a baby shower. We've got the Best Baby Shower Tips to make sure you don't miss a thing—or that they don't miss a thing if it's for you and your new babe.
-
The Invite
Getting the guests to the baby shower is the first step. Determine what type of invitation you are going to use (e-invites or stationery) and then create your guest list (only women or co-ed? Are children invited?). Whatever you decide, make sure everybody's comfortable and ready to have a good time.
-
The Time
Make sure the timing of the shower works. Generally, an event like this is held late morning to early afternoon, and on a weekend (Sunday brunch, ideally).
-
The Décor
Decide on a theme for the shower to make decorating easier. Our food editor Jan threw quite the party for her sister and while we may not be as savvy in terms of creating delicious and beautiful treats, décor ideas are easy to come by. Try design sites, blogs and Pinterest for inspiration.
-
The Food
Feeding the guests once they arrive is important (who wants to be hungry at a party?). Keep it simple with treats needing few ingredients and easy assembly, bite-sized goodies, healthy snacks and for-sure favourites.
-
The Gifts
When deciding on gifts, try to get a group of friends together to contribute towards one larger item like a car seat, stroller or portable crib. It's easier for the guests and mom gets what she needs.
-
The Memories
Consider the sentimental as well as the practical: scrapbooks, albums and artwork displays can be welcome gifts for when the baby outgrows those booties and the breast pump is no longer needed.
